Three people were killed and two others were injured after scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday, according to tweets from the Charlotte Fire Department.
“Charlotte Fire is currently securing the area,” in the 700 block of East Morehead Street, the agency said. “A family gathering area has been set up,” the tweet said.
The two injured were transported to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center “with minor injuries,” a Mecklenburg County EMS spokesman said.
It is not yet clear what led to the incident.
