MINUTE BY MINUTE: Strong storms leave destructive path in North Georgia – WSB-TV Channel 2


ATLANTA — Severe weather has made its way through North Georgia and metro Atlanta, bringing storms and possibly tornadoes to some areas.

Destructive wind gusts, localized flooding and possible tornadoes have caused significant damage to several different counties.

Bad Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz has tracked the movement of storms and tornadoes throughout the day Channel 2 Action news.

Channel 2 Action news has tracked storm damage in Cobb, Troup, Newton, Spalding counties and more on Thursday.

6:45 in the evening

Henry County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 13th as the community responds to today’s inclement weather.

5:19 p.m

Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Milledgeville, Eatonton and Hardwick until 6:00 PM

4:58 in the afternoon

Tornado Warning extended to Jasper, Putnam counties until 5:30 p.m.

4:48 in the afternoon

Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Monroe, Covington and Social Circle until 5:15 PM.

“Due to severe weather moving into the area bringing rain, strong winds and flash flooding which could make road conditions dangerous, all after school activities for today except ASP have been cancelled. At this time, release times remain unchanged and buses will operate as normal.

A tornado warning has been issued until 5 p.m. for counties in red.

Remember that if a tornado watch is issued, it means that conditions are favorable for tornado formation and preparation. If a tornado warning is issued, it means a tornado has been spotted or indicated by radar and take cover immediately.
