Announcing the news today, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce that they are expecting their second child this summer.
“The family are delighted and August is looking forward to becoming a big brother.”
Moments later, Eugenie shared an adorable photo on her Instagram page taken by her husband Jack, showing her baby son kissing her belly, writing: “We are so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer. ‘
Shortly after, Fergie shared a photo of her grandson August splashing in the puddles, writing that he was “in granny heaven”.

Although it is not known where the photo of Princess Eugenie and Augustus was taken, it appears to have been taken in the past few weeks, with frost on the ground.
In the footage, the mother-of-one is seen beaming down at her young son, who is enthusiastically snuggling into her belly.
It is not yet known whether she is expecting a boy or a girl.
Eugenie and her husband Jack first started dating in 2011 and confirmed their relationship at an appearance at Royal Ascot that year.

When Eugenie left London to work for an auction house in New York in 2013, the couple maintained a long-distance relationship.
Jack told The Daily Mail at the time: “We spend a lot of time on Skype. It’s great. We’re still very much together.
In 2015, the princess returned to London, where the pair grew even closer – and they sparked engagement rumors the following year.
But it was another two years before Jack popped the question while the two were in Nicaragua in January 2018.
Shortly after, Fergie shared a photo of her grandson August splashing in the puddles on Instagram, writing that he was “in granny heaven”.
She wrote that Augustus, whom she affectionately calls Auggie, would be ‘sharing puddles’ and called it ‘superb news’
Eugenie married Jack in October 2018 before they welcomed their first child, August, in February 2021.
She announced her first pregnancy in a similar fashion, posting a photo on Instagram at the same time the palace announced the news.
He weighed 8lbs 1oz and the couple broke with tradition by immediately sharing a black and white photo on Eugenie’s Instagram of their baby boy, showing them holding his tiny hand.
She followed the post with three blue hearts after welcoming her son at the luxury private hospital where Meghan also gave birth to her son Archie.

Eugenie went on to reveal that August’s name is a touching tribute to Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert, whose birth name was Franz Albert Augustus Carl Emanuel, and Prince Philip, who died aged 99.
She largely kept August out of the limelight during his first two years, but delighted fans when she shared a video of her son dancing during the platinum jubilee celebrations.
The 61-year-old Duchess of York has already praised Eugenie’s mothering skills during an interview with Hello magazine.
She revealed: “My children are phenomenal mothers. They were great kids, but now they are phenomenal moms. And now I have these two extraordinary grandchildren in one year.
Eugenie largely kept August out of the limelight for his first two years, but she did occasionally share photos of her little one growing up on her Instagram page
The royal couple, who currently split their time between Portugal and the UK, occasionally share family photos on Eugenie’s Instagram page
The princess has had a busy few months, making a number of appearances at royal events, including attending a church in Sandringham on Christmas Day and attending Kate’s concert.
The couple now split their time between the UK, where they sublet Harry and Meghan’s Frogmore Cottage home, and Portugal.
In May last year, it was reported that they were spending some of their time at CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxury resort an hour south of Lisbon on Portugal’s scenic Atlantic coast.
The move is believed to be due to Jack’s work working with property magnate Mike Meldman, George Clooney’s longtime business partner.
The Duchess of York, 61, previously praised Eugenie’s mothering skills during an interview, saying both her daughters were “phenomenal” mothers
Eugenie’s husband previously worked for the Casamigos tequila brand, which the actor helped found. It was sold to Diageo in 2017 for £550m. He now works for Mr Meldman’s Discovery Land Company, which has been developing CostaTerra since 2019.
It comes after Eugenie said she wanted her son to become a climate change activist for “two years” and stopped using plastic at home.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the 32-year-old said the birth of her son in August 2021 had “totally changed” her view of the environment.
She said: “My son will become an activist from the age of two, which is in a few days.
“It’s all about them, isn’t it? Every decision we make now has to be about how August will be able to live his life.
Her comments echoed the intervention of her cousin Prince Harry, 38, who described how “everything changed” when he became a father because he began to question “what’s the point of bringing a new person into this world when he’s your age and burning do you?

Duke of York’s daughter says becoming a mother has made her more concerned about communities vulnerable to climate change in discussion with Reuters IMPACT and Arctic Humanity at Risk Basecamp.
Eugenie, speaking to Reuters editor-in-chief Axel Threlfall and Arctic Humanity founder Gail Wightman, said: “My son will be an activist from the age of two, which is in a few days. So, he, it’s all about them.
“I spoke to Peter Thomson, the UN special envoy for the oceans, and all he told me was that I’m doing this for my grandchildren. And it’s the same.
“Every decision we make now has to be about whether Augustus, what he’s going to be able to see and do and how he’s going to live his life.
“But I also think that as a mother, you suddenly, completely change, your hormones change, everything changes.
In an interview with Reuters IMPACT and Arctic Humanity at Risk Basecamp, Eugenie said teaching her son about the environment was a “battle”
She also warned about the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities in the interview during the World Economic Forum in Davos
“I’m scared of flying and things like that now and I never would have been scared before.”
Prince Andrew’s youngest daughter said she sees the world differently since becoming a mother and her concerns about climate change have affected the way she lives.
She revealed: “We don’t have plastic at home, we try to be plastic free as much as possible and I’m trying to teach him that. But it’s a battle.
But the princess also spoke of her hope for the future of the environment, saying: “I like being ‘the glass half full’.”
Eugenie added: “I’d prefer it that way, but sometimes the facts and figures and sometimes the dinners give you such a sense of disappointment and doom and gloom.”
She also warned of the impact of the changing environment on vulnerable communities, adding: “Modern slavery and human trafficking is a really big problem around the world.
“Today, an estimated 49 million people are enslaved, and we know that when the climate is vulnerable, the most vulnerable people are affected by it.
“And we’re going to see that more and more, you know, every time a crisis happens, people are going to be vulnerable and put in difficult situations.”
“So the climate really goes hand in hand with that.”
