Trump News Today: Donald Trump fills his memorial speech for vlogger Diamond with his favorite rally lines

Trump says no documents found at Mar-a-Lago, only ‘cool’ blank folders marked classified

Donald Trump there is dropped a claim for $250 million v. Attorney General of New York Letitia James after receiving a warning from a federal judge.

The same judge sanctioned Donald Trump and his attorney nearly $1 million for suing the former secretary of state Hillary Clinton because of allegations that she and others rigged the 2016 presidential election.

“This case should never have been brought,” wrote Judge Donald M Middlebrooks of the Southern District of Florida in his order. “Its inadequacy as a legal claim was apparent from the outset.”

Judge Middlebrooks said the sanctions were justified because the former president had demonstrated a “pattern” of abusing the courts for his political agenda. “Intended for political gain, none of the allegations in the amended complaint state a cognizable legal claim,” he wrote.

Mr. Trump and his lawyer, Alina Haba, are now liable for $937,989 in penalties.

Meanwhile, the former president reacted angrily to the failure of Supreme Court to identify the source of Roe v. Wade leaking a decision that sparked outrage last year.

He shockingly called for the closure of A politician reporter, publisher and editor who broke the story in an attempt to force them to identify the source of the leak.

Lawsuits, prison threats and ‘enemy of the people’: Donald Trump’s never-ending war on the media

Having built his way to celebrity with a media image of vast wealth and personal success, Donald Trump has spent years attacking critical coverage, falsely accusing reporters of lying and publicly suggesting they should be jailed for imaginary crimes.

The former president’s rhetoric has alarmed civil rights groups and press freedom advocates, warning that his potentially chilling remarks pose a threat to constitutionally protected speech.

During his four years as president, he called journalists and news outlets “fake news” roughly 2,000 times, averaging more than one daily jab at the press and continuing a long legacy of trying to undermine his critics that continued into his time in the White House .

Alex Woodward examines the former president’s long, contentious relationship with the media as he prepares to do battle with them again in 2024:

Trump responded to the Monterey Park shooting by complaining about the treatment of the accused on January 6

“10 dead California shooting, terrible weapon ANTIFA protest against our awesome police in Atlanta “Nothing will happen to them despite a night of rage and destruction,” the former president wrote on Truth Social. “Yet the lives of our protestors since January 6 due to rigged elections have been ruined even though no one was killed except the true patriot Ashley B. This situation will be fully rectified after the 2024 elections. Thank you!”

The gunman – who police have described only as a man – is still at large after opening fire at a dance hall.

Trump is touting a new poll showing overwhelming support for the Republican Party

Donald Trump is still seeing serious support from Republicans — and he’s not keeping quiet about it.

Speaking to Truth Social on Saturday, the former president shared a news story about a new poll that showed him well ahead of his 2024 rivals.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris Study study released on The hill shows Mr. Trump leading the theoretical eight-way primary with 48 percent of voters indicating they would choose him.

That’s miles ahead of the 28 percent who favor Mr. Trump’s main rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

A long way back in third place at 7 percent is former Vice President Mike Pence, followed by former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who is tied at just 3 percent.

Votes: Trump thinks Politico journalists should be jailed. This should be a turning point

This push to jail journalists for doing their jobs — their constitutionally protected jobs — echoes a speech Trump gave last November, during which he reflected on the same reporter who was sexually assaulted in prison: “ The reporter goes to jail. When the reporter learns she’s going to marry a certain inmate who’s extremely strong, tough, and mean, he’ll say, “You know, I think I’ll give you the scoop.”

This is not empty talk. According to New York Times, while president, Trump told FBI Director James Comey to “consider putting reporters in jail” during an Oval Office meeting. Recently, A rolling stone reported that Trump has assembled advisers to discuss ways to circumvent the First Amendment to emulate authoritarian leaders’ crackdown on journalists.

RNC Chairwoman Rona McDaniel says ability to argue with Trump is why she should keep her job, report says

Rona McDaniel, chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, has reportedly argued that she should remain in her current role because she is best able to convince Donald Trump not to field a third-party candidate in 2024 if he did not receive the party’s nomination.

A report published Thursday in The Washington Postsays Ms. McDaniel is trying to thwart challenges to her leadership of the RNC by stoking fears of a third-party Trump candidacy that is dividing the GOP base.

Ms. McDaniel faced criticism from RNC members for presiding over the disappointing results of the 2022 midterm elections, which saw the party narrowly win the House and lose a seat in the Senate. Many predicted a red tide that would sweep the nation two years into Biden’s presidency and put the GOP in full control of Congress.

As some members of the party blame Mr. Trump for the poor election performance, many also appear to believe that Ms. McDaniel is too tied to him to continue leading the party and that it is time for her to move on.

Steve Bannon asked Ms. McDaniel about criticism of her leadership on his show. Accusing his main rival Harmit Dillon of lying about her, Mr Bannon asked her to be specific:
