While the bacteria usually do not affect people with healthy immune systems, exposure to immunocompromised people and those with chronic lung disease or external medical devices poses a “risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment” safety regulators said. For such individuals with recalled products, The Laundress recommended “laundering the clothing” with an alternative product, although “the risk of bacteria being present on the cleaned clothing is low.”
People can “rewash” clothing, dishes or surfaces “with an alternative product” if they are concerned they have used The Laundress’s recalled products, the company said.
